Sunny Leone, Anurag Kashyap Get Standing Ovation For Kennedy at MAMI Film Fest; Watch Video

After winning over Cannes Film Festival earlier this year, Anurag Kashyap premiered his film Kennedy at the Jio MAMI Film Festival in Mumbai and it was received with a thunderous applause. In a video shared by the film festival’s official social media handle, Anurag, Sunny and the team of Kennedy was welcome with applause and hoots as they took the stage after the premiere. Dressed in white, Anurag thanked the audience in the house while he spoke about the film with them.

After winning over Cannes Film Festival earlier this year, Anurag Kashyap premiered his film Kennedy at the Jio MAMI Film Festival in Mumbai and it was received with a thunderous applause. In a video shared by the film festival’s official social media handle, Anurag, Sunny and the team of Kennedy was welcome with applause and hoots as they took the stage after the premiere. Dressed in white, Anurag thanked the audience in the house while he spoke about the film with them.

Kennedy, which stars Sunny and Rahul in the lead, was opened for booking to Jio MAMI Film Festival attendees on Saturday morning. Hosted at the 2000-The Grand Theatre in NMACC, Kennedy sold out in the matter of few minutes. There were several attendees who also stood in line for walk ins for at least two hours to get a spot in the theatre.

 

Ahead of the Mumbai premiere, Anurag shared posters of Kennedy on Instagram and wrote, “A journey that started in Mumbai, went to Cannes to Sydney to Seoul to so many other places across the globe, has found its way back home…back to the city the film belongs to…see you tonight Mumbai!…Kennedy and Charlie will be waiting ❤️.”

Anurag Kashyap’s Kennedy premiered at Cannes earlier this year. The film opened to a full house and it received a 7-minute standing ovation. Speaking about the standing ovation, Anurag told Film Companion, “It’s always special to show your film to the world at Cannes and it’s a lifetime moment to play at the Grand Theatre Lumiere. Kennedy is a very special film to me and extremely personal too. We have put our heart and soul into making this film. 7 mins long standing ovation from the audience has made me full of gratitude. I am very grateful and excited at the same time.”
