The much-anticipated film The Buckingham Murders, starring Kareena Kapoor Khan, created a buzz at the BFI London Film Festival, earning a standing ovation. It’s now the opening feature at the Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival 2023 and has stirred excitement in B-town already. Director Anurag Kashyap took to social media to praise Kareena’s performance in the film by posting words of encouragement on his Instagram story.

On Thursday, Anurag Kashyap praised it as her most exceptional work till date. He wrote, “#KareenaKapoorKhan’s best performance ever in this moody film about loss and grief and murder by @hansalmehta”. Hansal Mehta replied to the post with three heart emojis.

Recently, the actress shared the film’s poster where she looks upset, struggling against authorities, who have got a hold of her. This film, her first as a producer, is based in London and follows Jasmeet Bhamra, a single mom and police officer. The story revolves around Bhamra, who faced a tough time losing her child in a shooting. The movie takes cues from Kate Winslet’s role in Mare of Easttown and a character played by Sean Penn in Mystic River, where both are single parents dealing with tragic events.

Kareena had earlier shared a post about the film’s screening and written, “A journey that @hansalmehta, @ektarkapoor and I took is premiering at the 67th BFI London Film Festival. It is an atmospheric thriller, that explores themes of loss, closure and the immigrant experience. What makes this moment even more special is that it’s one of the three films from India that made it to the festival! If you happen to be in the UK, we hope you can watch it, it’s being shown at the Curzon Mayfair on 14th and 15th October.”
